Your UFO Week 2 Fun Guide
Matchups, Point Spreads, and Team Rankings
Before we say a damn thing about Week 2, we gotta talk about that Austin vs Atlanta matchup this past weekend. Maybe the dorky dink and dunkers didn’t love it it, but for those of us who like crazy athleticism, 50 yard hammers on a dime, and a random gust of wind determining the outcome on the final throw, this was as good as it gets. A Game of the Season candidate in Week One. If you haven’t already, watch the highlights from this Instant Classic.
To hear us talk about that and much, much more, listen to this week’s podcast, wherever fine podcasts are consumed. And if you enjoy it, PLEASE do us a solid and give us a 5 star rating (give us a good review and Shaggy will personally give you a foot massage*).

POINT SPREADS, PICKS FOR THIS WEEKEND
TORONTO (+12.5) AT NEW YORK (-12.5) Both teams made a lot of changes this offseason, but New York was mostly adding star players while Toronto was losing them. Personally, I’ll never forgive Toronto for losing Oscar Stonehouse’s mullet, and for that reason, I’m taking New York in a blowout.
EMPIRE 29-TORONTO 14
OREGON (+16.5) AT SALT LAKE (-16.5). This would be the biggest upset since the Battle of Agincourt. This will not be the biggest upset since the Battle of Agincourt.
SHRED 31-STEEL 13
MONTREAL (+7.5) AT BOSTON (-7.5). There is an alternate universe in which Tobe Decreane stays in Montreal and his brother comes over to play for the Royal and they became the best team in the UFA and not only win the next 3 championships but fight off a phalanx of sex robots from another dimension. Sorry, I’ve been watching a lot of Rick and Morty lately.
GLORY 20-MONTREAL 14
COLORADO (+1.5) AT SEATTLE (-1.5). This is the toughest game of the weekend to pick. Colorado and Seattle both had really disappointing 2025 seasons, and one of these two will get the 3rd playoff slot in the West. I have no idea who that will be, but because I tell everyone that I can predict the future, I have to pretend like I do. When in doubt, pick the home team.
CASCADES 19-APEX 16
TORONTO (-1.5) AT PHILLY (+1.5). One of these two teams will be taking home 5th place in the East, but who? Both of them had dreadful offseason, with the Phoenix losing 5 of their top 7 scorers and Toronto losing 4 of their top 6. Both teams do have a fun player to watch though: Scott Heyman for the Hotbirds and Akifumi Muraoka for Toronto. The back ends of weekend doubleheaders are rough, I think the Phoenix pull this one out.
PHOENIX 17-TORONTO 15
CHICAGO (+3.5) AT MINNESOTA (-3.5). The fellas talked at length about this rivalry on the latest podcast. The Union documentary on Youtube (which is TERRIFIC), the Union players seemed borderline obsessed with Minnesota. And that was before the Wind Chill ruined their perfect season. They have to be bordering on deranged lunacy at this point. I think we see a fired up Union squad pull the first big upset of the season.
UNION 19-WIND CHILL 18
AUSTIN (-12.5) AT HOUSTON (+12.5). Still no Ben Lewis for Houston, but due to a one-game suspension, there’s no Evan Swiatek for Austin. Even without Swiatek, the Sol should shine.
SOL 32-HAVOC 19
SALT LAKE (PICK ‘EM) AT OAKLAND (PICK ‘EM). Last year’s game between these two in Oaktown was an instant classic, with the Shred scoring two goals in the final 30 seconds to force overtime, and prevailing in the extra frame. Expect more of the same, this should be the best game of the weekend. But I think this time the Spiders finally get their elusive first win against Salt Lake.
SPIDERS 21-SHRED 20
MONTREAL (+5.5) AT DC (-5.5). DC always loses in Week One, so I doubt there’s too much concern after last week’s loss to Boston on the road. For the home opener, they get a Montreal team on the back end of a back-to-back, which bodes well for DC. The fellas seem to like this Royal team, though, and think they could give the Breeze a run for that #3 seed in the East. Not this week, although I think Montreal will cover.
BREEZE 19-MONTREAL 15
COLORADO (-9.5) AT OREGON (+9.5). Oregon looked bad last week, and they’ll get killed by Salt Lake on Friday. But they return home Sunday against a Colorado team that lost Alex Atkins, Tobi Brooks, Zeke Thoreson, and Noah Coolman to free agency, and who won’t have Quinn Finer on Sunday. This gives Oregon a shot at a big upset, but I think Seth Faris will score like 18 goals and lead the Apex to the summit.
APEX 20-OREGON 14
SHAGGY’S RANKINGS
Shaggy’s back with his updated weekly rankings. The number beside each team indicates how much they rose or fell from his preseason rankings. Teams that didn’t move have a = beside their name. The biggest riser was Austin, moving up 4 spots in the rankings after their thrilling win over Atlanta. Biggest faller was DC after their tough loss to Boston.

HATS OFF THE UNION
The Union recently launched the first episode of an ongoing documentary about the 2025 season, and it is FANTASTIC. Seriously, this may be the coolest thing I’ve seen a team in the league ever do. If you’re a fan of the UFA, this is must-watch material.
NEWS AND NOTES
Be sure to listen to our latest podcast, where Charlie, Shaggy, and JGT discuss that Atlanta vs Austin classic, what to expect from New York on Friday, and the Chicago vs Minnesota rivalry.
The league is doing a short video series on reigning MVP Tobe Decreane. You can watch the first episode here.
Toronto takes on Philly this weekend. When these two met in Philadelphia two years ago, the Phoenix pulled off the greatest comeback in league history. Here’s a great 5-minute video that recaps that game.
We’re honoring the league’s incredible photographers this week by posting our favorite pics each Friday on Instagram. Check out the first batch here.
Apparently, the Amtrak that was supposed to carry DC to Boston last week got sent back to New York, and the Breeze had to ride vans from New York to Boston. They didn’t get into Boston until 4 am. Then the hotel fire alarm went off at 7:20 am. Despite zero evidence, I’m blaming Jeff Babbitt.
In case you missed it, Shaggy and JGT spoke with Alex Rubin of Ultiworld last week. Well worth a listen.
I realllllllly want this thing to happen. How freaking cool would UFA stats be if we could accurately measure spin and velocity on throws?
New podcast just dropped called Around the Disc with Caleb Payne, and the latest one is an interview with our buddy Big Game James.
